The fiercely private actress surprised the celebrity audience at the ceremony as she talked about privacy, her sexuality, her rarely-seen sons, Charles, 14, and Kit, 12, who were at the Globes with her and her ailing mother, who suffers from dementia. She wiped away tears as she told her mother she loved her, while several other actresses were also seen tearing up as well. But it was the several minutes she spent talking about her sexuality while also protesting that her life should be private and claiming she was ‘not the next Honey Boo Boo’ that had the audience looking bewildered. Foster said: « It’s a declaration that I’m a little nervous about ñ but maybe not quite as nervous as my publicist right now. I’m just going to put it out there ñ loud and proud – I am single. This is not going to be a big coming out speech tonight because I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago back in the stone age ñ in those very quaint days when a fragile girl would open up to trusted friends and family and coworkers and then gradually proudly to everyone who knew her but now apparently I’m told that every celebrity is expected to honor the details of their private life with a press conference, a fragrance and a primetime reality show.
